Direct Staffing, Inc: Torch Operator (Verifiable Experience)

Job Description:
We are a staffing company placing an individual for a Ferrous Torch Operator position with one of our valued clients. The main responsibility of this role will be to operate an oxygen/propane torch in the ferrous yard. The individual will be tasked with safely torching unprepared material to meet required specifications, cutting off contaminants, and maintaining a safe and hazard-free work environment.

Requirements:

• Must have verifiable torching experience. Only candidates with prior torching experience will be considered.
• Ability to safely handle and operate oxygen/propane torch equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety practices related to torching and working in industrial settings.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or job specifications related to material cutting.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must pass a background check and drug test. A positive THC test will disqualify you from consideration.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Strong focus on safety and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to assist in other areas of the yard or company as necessary.
• Must have verifiable job longevity in previous roles. We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of consistent employment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the oxygen/propane torch to cut and shape materials to specifications.
• Ensure all material is free of contaminants before and after torching.
• Follow strict safety protocols and wear proper PPE at all times. Zero tolerance for safety violations.
• Extinguish materials at the end of the shift or before leaving the work area.
• Properly store torching equipment when not in use.
• Assist in other areas of the yard as needed, particularly when weather prevents torching.
• Maintain proper documentation related to job performance and material handling.
• Perform regular inspections of tools and equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Compensation:

• Pay rate: $16 per hour
